Innovation Support helps you develop your ideas

Innovation Support at Umeå University helps researchers identify and develop the potential benefits to society of their research. You can receive free support with innovation and business development, property rights, contracts and agreements, and intellectual property rights, among others topics.

Available help

  • Innovation guidance and business development: Gain access to tools and customised and clear processes, while experienced business developers support you in methodically researching and developing your idea or results.
  • Resources and funding: Improve your chances of commercialising your idea. We can help you apply for funding to verify and validate your idea and we can provide access to the right infrastructure and contacts with experts in such areas as intellectual property rights, law and market analysis.
  • Protecting ideas and research results: You will receive support in identifying intellectual property assets and developing a strategy for how your research results can reach their full potential.
  • Guidance on contracts: You can receive support with contractual issues, especially when research results are to be commercialised or shared with external parties, such as companies, authorities or other organisations.
