This is included in the agreement
During 2024 and 2025, the four research funders, the Swedish Research Council, Forte, Formas, and Vinnova, have decided to jointly fund publishing with publishers who only publish fully open access journals. This means that researchers at Umeå University can publish articles in the publishers' journals without having to pay a publishing fee (APC, article processing charge). The same conditions apply to all researchers linked to an organisation in the Bibsam consortium.

Journals and publication types
The agreement covers all article types.
Choice of licence
Articles covered by the agreement will be published with a CC BY licence.
What you need to do
To be covered by the agreement, you must:
- be the corresponding author;
- state a correct affiliation to Umeå University in the manuscript;
- state Umeå University as your primary affiliation in your account in the publisher submission system; and
- use your University email ending with @umu.se.
Good to know about the publishing process
Enter Umeå University as your primary organisation in your user account in the publisher's system (Editorial Manager). Use ‘Update my information’ if you already have an account. Select Umeå University from the list; do not enter your own variant. Avoid specifying affiliation at a more detailed level, such as department, as identification works best at university level.
Under Additional information – Publication fees, select ‘My institution will fully or partially pay the fee as a member of the PLOS Institutional Account Programme’ and select Umeå University from the list of Institutional Account Programmes.
