My work involves using and building models to investigate how ecological adaptation and hybridization interact to facilitate or hinder speciation. The research will focus on plants systems, building on data from a system of pine species around the Tibetan plateau, including the alpine pine Pinus densata. The aim of the project is to develop new methods that can reveal evolutionary processes involved in speciation by combining modern population genetics/genomics with individual-based models used in theoretical ecology.
