Ph.D. Materials Science and Engineering, B.Sc. Physics.
I studied Physics at the University of Quindío in Colombia, and then pursued a Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. My expertise lies in materials science and engineering, with a focus on photonics, optical materials, computational physics, and simulations. I've previously conducted research on the optical properties of porous materials and photonic crystals made from porous structures, as well as in various material characterization techniques. My work has also extended to biomaterials, particularly hydroxyapatite and starch-based polysaccharides.
In Umeå, I’ll be taking this a step further by investigating the optical properties and light-harvesting dynamics of red coralline algae.
