Location

I work as a university lecturer and teach within the special education teacher program, independent teacher education courses, and I am responsible for the courses on Meänkieli and Sami for preschool staff that Umeå University offers on behalf of the Swedish National Agency for Education.

In my research, I am primarily interested in teachers’ language assessments in early childhood education, focusing on how these assessments are conducted, interpreted, and the actions taken because of the assessments. My interest in language and language assessment is partly rooted in my background as a licensed speech and language pathologist. In that role, I have worked both within the regional healthcare system and in preschool/school settings. In my doctoral project, I had the opportunity to contribute to the body of knowledge about teachers’ language assessment practices in preschool classes with linguistic diversity and how teachers approach and understand new mapping materials.
