PhD candidate in history, examining political dynamics of relationships between the crown and the nobility during the early modern period, viewed through source material authored by women.
My project examines how the Swedish political nobility navigated its relationship with the crown under varying political conditions during the early modern period, as evidenced by source material produced by women, including informal political correspondence, propaganda, and texts reflecting the nobility's use of history. Key themes include the formation and political role of the nobility, the relationship between the nobility and the monarchy, and the shaping of oppositional political agendas.
