Ieva defended her PhD in the field of Biology in 2023 at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. During her previous reseach, Ieva focused on cancer genetics and epigenetics as well as male infertility:
At the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Ieva investigated various cancer types, including glioma, breast, cervical, testicular, thyroid, head and neck cancer. She focused on gene and miRNA expression, methylation, and sequencing.
At the Copenhagen University Hospital Ieva joined the Almstrup group for the 9-month traineeship and focused on Piwi-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) to identify their role in male infertility.
At the Oregon Health & Science University Ieva joined the Conrad lab for the 11-month traineeship and focused on mice and human infertility applying small RNA-seq and single-cell RNA-seq methods.
Now, Ieva is a part of the Remeseiro Lab at Umeå University where she is working on glioblastoma plasticity at the single cell resolution.
