I am a PhD student in English. My field of research is British literature, with an interest in representations of gender and specifically representations of masculinity and boyhood.
I am a PhD student in English and am affiliated to both the Department of Language Studies and the Umeå Center for Gender Studies. In my research I focus on representations of gender and specifically representations of masculinity and boyhood. In my thesis I analyse depictions of boys in British twentieth-century children’s literature. One aim is to examine what a boy is portrayed to be and how he is supposed to act in the different texts. The texts included in the project are Peter Pan, Narnia and Harry Potter.
I obtained my master’s degree in English literature at Umeå university. The thesis examines masculinity and male friendship in The Good Soldier and Women in Love.
