Mikael Wiberg is a professor in Informatics. He is author of the book "The Materiality of Interaction: Notes on the materials of interaction design" (2018) MIT Press.
Biography
Mikael Wiberg is a full professor in informatics at Umeå university, Sweden. He has held positions as Chaired Professor in HCI at Uppsala university (2010-2012), as Head of department, informatics, Umeå university (2013-2016), as Associate Dean for the social sciences faculty (2016-2017), as Development director for Umeå Arts Campus, Umeå university, and as Guest professor in HCI (human-computer interaction) at Södertörn university, Sweden (2018-2020). He has also served as Research director for Umeå institute of design (2008-2010). He has a PhD in informatics from 2001, Umeå university. Wiberg’s main work is within the areas of interactivity, mobility, materiality, and architecture. He has published his research in a number of top HCI/design journals including Design Issues, Design Studies, International journal of design, ToCHI - ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction, the Human- Computer Interaction journal and ACM Interactions. His most recently published book is ‘The Materiality of Interaction’ (MIT press, 2018]. He was most recently appointed as a new co-EIC (Editor-in-chief) for ACM Interactions (2019).
