Licensed psyhologist and PhD candidate in Psychiatry at the Department of Clinical Sciences. My research is on emotion regulation in eating disorders and its assessment in psychiatric populations.
Disseration project My dissertation project examines the feasibility and effectiveness of Radically Open Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (RO-DBT) for individuals with anorexia nervosa. More specifically, my research focuses on whether this treatment approach can improve eating disorder symptoms as well as the capacity for adaptive emotion regulation.
RO-DBT is a fundamentally transdiagnostic treatment that differs from traditional eating disorder interventions by emphasizing social connectedness, social signalling and skills, emotional openness, and psychological flexibility.
In addition to this clinical evaluation of RO-DBT, my research also investigates the precision and validity of rating scales intended to assess emotion regulation abilities and dysfunctional emotion regulation. My research is primarily quantitative in nature.
The project is conducted in close collaboration with the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet, where my principal supervisor, Associate Professor Johan Bjureberg, is based. My co-supervisors are Associate Professor Andreas Bjureberg and postdoctor Oskar Flygare at Karolinska Institutet, and Professor Jussi Jokinen at Umeå University.
Clinical work and teaching In addition to my research, I am employed as a clinical psychologist at the National Highly Specialised Care Unit for Severe Eating Disorders (NHV) at Sundsvall Hospital, where I have worked both clinically and in research-related activities.
I am also active within the adult psychiatry services in Sundsvall, where I primarily conduct neuropsychiatric assessments.
Alongside my research and clinical work, I teach primarily in the areas of psychological treatment and eating disorders. For several years, I have served as an external lecturer at Mid Sweden University in Östersund and have delivered lectures for regional and municipal services on eating disorders. I have also had the privilege of being repeatedly invited to lecture at the annual congress for psychology students in Sweden.
