My research focuses on freshwater ecology and palaeolimnology, and I work with Eric Capo. I study changes in microbial communities, especially phytoplankton, during regime shifts in shallow freshwater lakes. I am also interested in long-term changes in plant and animal communities in lake catchments since the late Holocene. I use sedimentary ancient DNA to reconstruct these changes and explore how human–environment relations have changed. More broadly, I enjoy exploring what lake archives can reveal about ecosystems and human activity.
