• demonstrate intellectual autonomy and disciplinary rectitude as well as the ability to make assessments of research ethics, and
• demonstrate specialised insight into the possibilities and limitations of research, its role in society and the responsibility of the individual for how it is used

• All researchers are responsible for maintaining high standards in every aspect of their work. Candidates must learn about good practice in their discipline and to how to conduct research correctly. Candidates must be competent to perform the technical and scientific tasks needed for their research. Candidates should refer to the University’s procedures, which include:

After introducing your research and its aim in five sentences answer either question a or b.
a) If you have already written your ethical considerations section of your dissertation, for this assignment we ask you to annotate this section with detail as to where in your research you have enacted your ethical decisions, the basis for these decisions, and where in your dissertation these decisions are evidenced or will be evidenced in your dissertation when written. Use the above national goals for the degree of doctor to inspire you. It can be useful for this assignment to think in terms of where you encountered ethical dimensions in your research, the ethical assessments you have made, and the basis for these assessments.
b) If you have not already written your ethical considerations section of your dissertation, for this assignment we ask you to overview what you will include in this sections, and then annotate your overview with detail as to where in your research you have enacted your ethical decisions, the basis for these decisions, and where in your dissertation these decisions are evidenced or will be evidenced in your dissertation when written. Use the above national goals for the degree of doctor to inspire you. It can be useful for this assignment to think in terms of where you encountered ethical dimensions in your research, the ethical assessments you have made, and the basis for these assessments.
Circa one page, and this can include visualizations. Remember that this piece of writing will function as base for discussion.
This assignment can be written in English, Swedish or Welsh, but if in Swedish or Welsh an English translation is necessary.
