How can we ensure that when we give students instructions in what we think is a clear and effective way, it is actually understood as it was meant? The problem with instructions is rarely a lack of information — more often, it is the opposite. When overloaded, students struggle to identify what is important.
By analysing your own course communication using established frameworks, you will gain insights into how to reduce cognitive overload and structure instructions in a way that helps students focus and plan. The goal is for you to leave the workshop with concrete strategies to improve your course instructions — thereby increasing clarity in both communication and learning.
