Abstract: A presentation of a PhD project focused on the "craft" (i.e. "skill" and "power") of the joik. It takes the experience of joiking as a point of departure for philosophical speculations into a variety of fields, such as temporality, semiosis, psychology, ecology, and senses of belonging. The focus is not on what the joik "is" or "ought to be", but on how it can affect and animate thought when it is attended to and taken seriously. This research is based on interviews with joikers, a review of the existing literature on the joik, and a participation to joik workshops.
