Konferens vid SU: Brain imaging in the Human Sciences

NYHET Inbjudan till konferens Brain Imaging in the Human Sciences: Expanding Research Opportunities, 30 September 2021.

Stockholm University Brain Imaging Centre (SUBIC) is cordially inviting all researchers interested in studying the human behavior and the mind to a transdisciplinary conference entitled Brain imaging in the Human Sciences: Expanding Research Opportunities, on the 30th of September, 2021. The main aim of this conference is to provide examples of cutting edge brain imaging research in multiple fields. Importantly, the conference is aimed towards being useful for both researchers with extensive, as well as no experience of brain imaging methods.

Keynote talks
Four internationally recognized keynote speakers will provide talks on how neuroimaging methods can be successfully used to address key questions within their research field and provide inspiration on how you can use brain imaging methods for your own scientific purpose. Presentation of the keynote speakers below.

Poster session
Beyond these keynote talks, you will have the opportunity to present a poster where you can share and discuss your own data (behavioral or brain related). You can also get feedback on brain imaging research ideas.

Introduction to brain imaging
There will be two overview talks with a brief introduction to two brain imaging methods (fMRI and EEG).

Registration
Signup via the conference webpage at latest the 9th of September:

Keynote Speakers

Professor Lars Nyberg, Umeå University (Sweden), is a leading researcher within the field of cognitive neuroscience with an interest in understanding how we acquire knowledge in school settings. He has quickly risen to become a leader in the field of educational neuroscience and has authored several seminal papers. He is a member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences since 2008, was the funding and present Director of Umeå Brain Imaging Center, been awarded numerous awards, one of the most cited researchers in the large field of memory research and is on numerous academic boards.

Professor Kate Watkins, Oxford University (UK), is a leader in neurobiology of language research where she uses brain imaging and brain stimulation to investigate speech perception and production. Lately, she has in detail explored the neural basis of disorders affecting the development of speech and language. She is a Tutorial Fellow in Psychology at St. Anne’s College, Oxford, Founding Editor and co-Editor in Chief for the journal Neurobiology of Language.

Professor Hilke Plassmann, INSEAD’s Octapharma Chaired Professor of Decision Neuroscience and Associate Professor of Marketing is a leader and a pioneer in the field of decision neuroscience and neuroeconomics. Her work focuses on better understanding how consumers make decisions, how marketing activities influence them and how we can help consumers to make better decisions. Her work has received several awards and international newspaper, radio, and TV coverage. She is the outgoing President of the Society for NeuroEconomics and a Principal Investigator at the Paris Brain Institute at Sorbonne University.

Professor Robert Zatorre, McGill University (Canada), is a world leading researcher in music neuroscience addressing fundamental questions that lie at the intersection between psychology and arts by trying to understand how we get pleasure from listening to music. He is a Canada Research Chair in Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience, the founding Director of the International laboratory for Brain, Music, and Sound research (BRAMS), and has won numerous academic prizes.
