  • Level Bachelor's level
  • Starting Autumn Term 2024

About the course

The aim of the course is to train the ability to see and express forms by practicing drawing from a live model. Basis for the course is to work with visual information as foundation for drawing.
The focus of the course, in addition to perception and cognitive processes, are shape, volume, balance, weight, spatiality and movement through exercises in sketching technique to reproduce the body as a whole, proportions and structure in relation to image construction. Specific methods and concepts for the area are also introduced during the course.
Life drawing is one of the foundational skills in the artistic tradition, a skill that requires constant practice and training in order for the practitioner to continually develop perception in relation to drawing methodology, the handling of sketching tools, and the development of personal expression. The course is suitable for beginners as well as for advanced artists.

The lessons on site take place over three intensive weekends, Saturday and Sunday. These are complemented with some distance learning assignments. A detailed schedule will be published before the start of term and sent out in the welcome letter on acceptance.

The course will be divided into two groups. You will be able to choose which group you belong to. Please note that there is a limited number of places in each group so first come, first served applies. Information will be given to admitted students in welcome letter. You are expected to actively participate once a week. For those who cannot attend a lesson, you will be given a homework assignment.

The course is mainly in Swedish but if there is English-speaking students tutoring can be held in English. If the majority of students are English speakers the lectures will be given in English with the option of tutoring in Swedish.
