    In-School Placement
This course include an In-School Placement. In-between the dates Monday 6 November - Tuesday 28 November 2023, you will follow the everyday work of Swedish teachers and observe and compaire the Swedish school system with the school system of your home country. The name of the school and contact person, will be sent to you in relation to the course start, or be presented on the first day of the course.

Please notice, that the schools prepare for your placement by letting pupils and parents know that you are coming. It is therefore important that you let us know, well in good time, if you are declining your seat on the course.

  • Information of paramount importance

Important regulations - Bring a cerificate!
All Univerisity students who spend time in a Swedish school MUST bring a certificate from the police or authorities, of their home country, that states they have not been charged for any crimes towards individuals. This is mandatory and will be requested by the principal in charge for the school where the student is placed. Requesting and recieving this type of documentation might take time in some countries, so we therefore urge students not wait too long before contacting the authorities needed.

Grading system and transfer of grades
Please make sure you have understood the grading system used for this course (see Syllabus). Grading confirmations in the likes of:"Percentage achieved in exams for passing", is NOT used and will not be provided individual students after finished course, or upon request from your home university afterwards. Your home university is responsible for any translation of Swedish grades into your home country's specific grading system. It may be helpful if you present the course Syllabus together with the assignments you've completed at Umeå University to your home university to assess, upon you return.

It is important that you make sure your home university accepts these terms before attending the course, as no exceptions are made on this matter. For more information regarding our education system please visit: Swedish Study System

    Online course platform
All our courses has an online course platform you need to access, which provide additional materials for the course. All assignments are also sent in through the platform upon deadline. Unlike other countries with end exams, Swedish courses usually has assignments running through out the course. It is therefore important to access your platform early in the course. You are able to log in as soon as you have acitvated your user id (Umu-Id). Exchange students get assistance by the Housing Office upon arrival on how to activate the Umu-id.
