Advanced biostatistics and epidemiology

About the course

The emphasis of the course is on the understanding of statistical reasoning in the analysis of epidemiological data and research.
 
Concepts and tools for causation will be discussed. Different types of regression analyses will be described and applied with a focus on application of linear and logistic regression. Other methods such as Poisson regression, Cox regression and survival analysis, multilevel modelling and mediation analysis will also be introduced.  The course will also bring up examples of utilization of epidemiological data analysis in research and practice.
 
Epidemiological research articles will be discussed with focus on the statistical and epidemiological methods, and theoretical parts will be illustrated with discussion exercises and computer exercises with epidemiological data.
