The aim for the course is to experience Swedish sloyd-culture through practical work. During the course we will focus on traditional wood and metal working techniques. The course targets primarily on people from other cultures and have a focus on introducing Swedish sloyd as a way to make things. We will work practically with handheld tools, how they are operated and maintenanced. Safety in the workshop is another important part of the course.
Focus during the course besides working in different techniques, will be on design, shape, color and expression trough practical work in wood and metal. Specific areas within sloyd will be introduced during the course. Construction, aesthetical principles and sustainability will be concerned.

Students applying for courses within a double degree exchange agreement, within the departments own agreements will be given first priority. Then will - in turn - candidates within the departments own agreements, faculty agreements, central exchange agreements and other departmental agreements be selected.
