Future and career opportunities
In modern society, mathematical methods and analytical skills play a very important role. An education in mathematics is the starting point to a career in all fields where mathematical methods are used. Therefore, you will find mathematicians in key positions in the industry of cars, robotics, pharmacy, telecom, IT and software development. Finance, banking and insurance companies are also keen on employing mathematicians, as are research institutes and governmental organizations working with everything from societal development to questions of national security.
Former graduates from our Department of Mathematics today work at a large range of companies, such as Alfa Laval, Capgemini, Deloitte, Ericsson, Goldman Sachs, H&M, IKEA, Microsoft, Nasdaq, Scania, Swedbank, Trygg-Hansa, Vattenfall, and Volvo.
