Graduation Ceremony 2025

On Tuesday 27 May, Umeå University will hold a ceremony to honour graduating students of International Master's Programmes.

The ceremony is for students of all International Master’s Programmes at Umeå University expected to graduate this spring.

Graduation Ceremony 2025

Date: Tuesday 27 May

Arrival time: 14:30 for students, guests must be seated by 14:45 at the very latest.

Ceremony: 15:00–16:45, approximately (for invited students and guests only). Download the ceremony programme

Live broadcast: Watch the live broadcast of the ceremony at
www.umu.se/live (Starting at 15:00 CEST. Will be available for viewing for 14 days after the ceremony.)

Mingle and photo booth: 16:45–18:00

Location: Aula Nordica, Campus Umeå

The ceremony is followed by a mingle and light refreshments.

Please note that this is a different ceremony than the one arranged by Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics (USBE) on 5 June.
USBE students can choose to attend both ceremonies.

An e-mail invitation with a link to the sign up form to attend has sent to all students expected to graduate this spring. A reminder e-mail has also been sent. The registration deadline was 2 April, and unfortunately, we are unable to accept any late sign-ups.

We are expecting the guests section in Aula Nordica to be filled to capacity. Please note that seating is not guaranteed. Arrive by 14.30 at the very latest and secure your seats no later than 14.45.

Alumni speaker Emma Fällman

Emma Fällman has bachelor’s degree in law from Umeå University and currently works as an attorney at her own law firm. She started studying directly after high school — continuing her education was never a question, only a certainty."

She reflects with deep warmth and gratitude on the solid foundation that her education at Umeå University provided, shaping her future with stability and excellence.

“At the Department of Law, problem-based learning was used, which is a teaching approach that has shaped and strengthened my legal methodology throughout my professional life,” says Emma.

What does it mean to you to be this year's alumni speaker?
It is a profound honour and pleasure to be this year's Alumni Speaker. This is especially true given the importance of education, international exchange and collaboration in shaping better world.

What do you remember from your years as a student? 
The years went by quickly and there was a wonderful atmosphere at the university. There was an excellent opportunity to study abroad and the close proximity between the different departments promoted cooperation and diverse perspectives. Umeå has a thriving cultural life with the Norrlands Opera, the indie pop scene, and Bildmuseet to name just a few things.

After Emma Fällman earned her law degree, she started working at the Swedish Crime Victims Authority (Brottsoffermyndigheten). She then served as a notary in a district court before joining a law firm.

"My law degree has been the foundation of professional career, enabling me to thrive both as an attorney and in the courtroom."
