An international panel of clinical and basic researchers has awarded the fellowship to three clinicians.
Inga Rimkute at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, proposed a project to identify effective tools for prevention of human norovirus infections. Collaborator for the project is Marta Bally, Associate Professor at Umeå University.
Sara Cajander at Örebro University Hospital, Örebro, proposed a project to examine longitudinal immune dysregulation and experimental immune modulation in human inflammatory disease. Collaborator for the project is Johan Normark, Associate Professor and clinician at Umeå University and Umeå University Hospital.
Victor Yman at Södersjukhuset and Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, proposed a project to improve serological tools for precision mapping of virus-specific and cross-reactive antibodies for next-generation arbovirus diagnostics and surveillance tools. Collaborator for the project is Mattias Forsell, Professor at Umeå University.
MIMS Clinical Research Fellowships provide guaranteed research time and fund the fellow’s research up to a total value of 3.2 mio SEK. Since the establishment of the fellowship programme in 2009, MIMS has awarded 16 research fellowships to clinicians at university hospitals across Sweden.
MIMS receives funding from the Swedish Research Council, the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, the Kempe Foundations and Umeå University to foster the next generation of outstanding researchers in infection medicine. It is the Swedish node in the EMBL network, to which it is connected through the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine.
