Applications for the recruitment programme to become a Umeå University Northern Star Fellow are open from 1 July to 1 October 2026. A visiting professor programme is also planned for next year. Visiting professors should hold a permanent professorship at a university outside Sweden and will collaborate with Umeå University on a part-time basis over a period of two years.
“The Northern Star Programme is a powerful initiative, both in the short and long term. Through international recruitment and strategically coordinated collaborations with universities around the world, we will not only complement and strengthen existing research at Umeå University. We will also create the conditions needed to advance the priority areas in which the University aims to build internationally leading research. In the longer term, this initiative will further enhance Umeå University’s attractiveness for both researchers and students,” says Vice-Chancellor Tora Holmberg.
