Study abroad outside of Europe in the spring of 2021

NEWS Umeå University has 37 exchange places in 4 countries outside of Europe available for exchange studies during the spring of 2021. The last day to send in the digital application is 15 September.

For students interested in studying abroad during the spring of 2021 there is 37 available exchange places at 9 different universities in 4 countries outside of Europe.

Available countries:

  • United States
  • China 
  • Japan 
  • South Korea

Information about which universities offer exchange places can be found on the page: Where can you go?. For information about eligibility, what you can study, living costs and other relevant information, please visit the respective university’s page on our website linked above. 

6 reasons to study abroad

  • You get to travel and experience a different culture. 
    Travelling to and living in another country means a change of scenery but it is also a great way to learn about a culture different from your own. 
  • You can broaden or deepen your education. 
    When studying abroad you can choose courses that are not available at Umeå University which means you have the chance to both broaden and deepen your knowledge. 
  • You create bonds with people from other continents. 
    Having contacts abroad can be valuable for example if you are interested in an international career. 
  • You have the chance to work on your personal development. 
  • You can deepen your knowledge in a language or learn a new one. 
    Spending time with people who speak another language is a fun way to deepen your knowledge in a language you already speak or a way to learn a new language.
  • You have a valuable qualification for your future career. 

How to apply for an exchange place

You apply for an exchange place by submitting an application in Umeå University's application system SoleMove. A manual for how to fill in the application can be found on Umeå University's website for manuals.

Before sending in your applications, you also have the opportunity to participate in one of our two drop-in events where you will get more information about exchange studies. You will also have the opportunity to ask your questions. we will inform about exchange studies and that there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

The last day for applying for an exchange place for the spring of 2021 is 15 September 2020.

If you would rather apply for an exchange place for the academic year 2021/2022, information regarding this will be published in October.
