Nominate someone for the 2026 Scientific Prize in Memory of Dieter K. Müller

NEWS The prize recognises individuals who strengthen the role of science in society. Particular emphasis is placed on contributions to sustainable development, preferably with relevance to northern Sweden, and on efforts that strengthen public trust in evidence-based knowledge. Submit your nomination by 27 November 2026.

Umeå University has established a scientific prize in memory of Professor Dieter K. Müller (1968–2025), whose work made a major contribution to research, internationalisation and collaboration between academia and society. Through the prize, the University wishes to honour his memory while recognising individuals who help strengthen the role of science in society.

The prize is worth SEK 100,000 and is awarded annually at Umeå University’s Annual Celebration. This year's prize will be awarded at Kunskapsnoden at the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm on 2 February 2027.

Nominations are open until 27 November 2026

Individuals both within and outside Umeå University are welcome to nominate candidates for the prize. You may nominate a researcher or another individual who has developed, communicated or applied scientific knowledge with a clear impact on society. Particular emphasis is placed on contributions to sustainable development, preferably with relevance to northern Sweden, and on efforts that strengthen public trust in evidence-based knowledge.
