Dizziness Research Group

Research group The Dizziness Research Group at Umeå University focuses on diagnostics, treatment and implications of acute dizziness, including artificial intelligence, motion analyses, rehabilitation, corticosteroid treatment and societal effects.

We study acute dizziness from several different perspectives. Our focus areas include:

  • The dizziness care pathway and epidemiology
  • Stroke diagnostics in acute dizziness, including:
    • Advanced oculomotor analysis
    • Artificial intelligence
  • Sick leave related to dizziness
  • Advanced motion and gait analyses
  • Online rehabilitation after acute vertigo
  • Corticosteroid treatment after acute vertigo

The research group is a collaboration involving neurology, otorhinolaryngology (ENT), and medical technology R&D at Region Västerbotten. It includes physicians, statisticians, engineers, and research nurses. We also have collaborations with vertigo specialists at several sites around Sweden, in Denmark, Norway and in the USA.
