Dietary and nutritional treatment

In the area of dietary and nutritional treatments, research is being done in cooperation with researchers in the medical faculty.

Studies of early nutritional intake of very premature children, its effects on growth, cognitive development, and prevalence of medical complications related to prematurity, are being done in cooperation with the department of Pediatrics at Umeå University and the Karolinska Institute.

Collaborative work is also being done with the Department of Clinical Sciences, Otorhinolaryngology, concerning the effect of illness and treatments on the nutritional and eating habits of patients with cancer in the head and neck.

In a multi-centred, case-control study – Exploring the Iceberg of Celiac Disease in Sweden, under the leadership of the Unit of Epidemiology and Global Health at Umeå University, the nutritional intake and food choices of young people with Celiac disease have been studied.
