Senior consultant physician and associate professor, engaged in occupational and environmental research.
My research interest is focused on how different physical factors affect the health and work ability. In our research group Vibration, Ergonomics, Climate and Translational Occupational Research (VECTOR) we study effects of working outdoors in severe weather conditions in a changing climate. We also investigate adverse health effects from working with vibrating tools and vehicles, high levels of noise, high physical demands and awkward postures. The methods include broad population-based epidemiological studies, focused surveys on occupational groups, laboratory investigations and interventional studies. My hope is that our research will lead to concrete measures to prevent disease and injury in working life.
I mainly teach at the Medical Program and the Bachelor’s Program of Science in Environmental Health.
