Cenk is a researcher and lecturer focusing on skiing, tourism, climate change, and geographic information systems.
O. Cenk Demiroglu is an associate professor at the Department of Geography and affiliated with the Arctic Research Centre at Umeå University (ARCUM) and Humlab. His research is mainly focused on the interrelationships of climate change and ski tourism. Besides, he has served as an expert to several destination development projects and teaches tourism and geographical information systems related courses at the basic and advanced levels. Cenk is an active member of Skål International, and, since 2018, has been working as the Co-chair of the Commission on Climate, Tourism and Recreation of the International Society of Biometeorology.
Cenk teaches courses on tourism, destinations and regional development, geodatabase design, applied cartography, basic and advanced GIS analyses, transportation, and 3D modelling. He is also a frequent guest lecturer and keynote speaker on the topics of climate change and tourism.
