Simon Lundberg holds a PhD in History and Educational and work as a researcher at the Department of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies. Lundberg has previously worked as a high school teacher in history, and in his dissertation project "Historieundervisningen i en tid av migrationspräglad mångfald", which he defended in the spring of 2025, he built upon those experiences.

Lundbergs research is situated at the intersection of history didactics and educational science. In his research Lundberg has a particular focus on the dynamic relationship between migration marked diversity and history education. Using qualitative methods his research has explored what contemporary migration-influenced diversity in schools, as well as teachers’ epistemological approaches, mean for history teaching. With his research Lundberg wants to highlight teachers' experiences around these issues in order to create a discussion that can be valuable for others in the teaching profession to take part of.
