Abstract (på engelska): The ArchLab infrastructure
Archaeology is the only humanities subject which studies the long-term human past to provide empirical evidence for human-environment-climate interactions. It is an intrinsically interdisciplinary field, integrating natural science with knowledge of artefacts and human prehistory.
ArchLab a new archaeological infrastructure that spearhead Sweden’s contribution to the understanding of the past. It comprises 13 laboratories across Sweden, located at the Universities in Umeå, Uppsala, Stockholm and Lund. Financially supported from the Swedish Research Council, Archlab provides new technical platforms, intending to foster novel and ground-breaking archaeological research. The primary aim is to ensure the continued provision of state-of-the-art analytical services to all archaeologists.
ArchLab also aims to support and enhance interdisciplinary science in all fields where methods and materials from archaeological research are relevant. The overarching goal is to raise the standard of the use of scientific methods in archaeological research and enhance and expand the dissemination of knowledge to the academy, museums and the public.
