Om föreläsningen: The RNA editing enzyme adenosine deaminase acting on RNA 1 (ADAR1) modifies double-stranded (ds) RNA by deaminating adenosine to inosine (A-to-I). Inosine in dsRNA helps the cell to distinguish self from non-self RNA thus preventing aberrant activation of the dsRNA antiviral immune sensors. ADAR1 also can have protein-protein interactions with Protein Kinase R (PKR) another dsRNA sensor to prevent its activation. We have expanded our study of ADAR1 and now observe that it also plays an important role in adaptive immunity.
