UArctic: Travel Grants for Arctic Congress Bodø 2024

Deadline: 7 April

The University of the Arctic (UArctic) invites Master and PhD students from UArctic member institutions, whose abstracts have been accepted to be presented during the Arctic Congress Bodø 2024, to apply for funding support to the Arctic Congress Bodø 2024 held in Norway 29 May–2 June. As a student from a European country, you can receive up to NOK 16,000.

Nordforsk: Research Projects Under the Nordic-Baltic Initiative for Migration and Integration Research

Deadline: 14 May

NordForsk with partners are issuing a Nordic-Baltic call for proposals for research projects on Migration and Integration. Available budget is NOK 62,4 million.

The call will address the following themes:

  • Integration processes and patterns
  • Social cohesion and inequalities
  • Politics and governance of migration and integration

Grants have also been awarded to instrument development in these disciplines.

Formas: Research-driven solutions for a sustainable society

Deadline: 29 May

The projects must clearly contribute to the objectives and fall within one or more of the themes and perspectives highlighted in the national research programmes for Sustainable spatial planning, Food, Climate, and Oceans and water. The project duration is 1 or 2 years. You can apply for a maximum grant of SEK 2 million per 12-month period.

Vinnova: Planning Grant for International Proposal 2024

Do you plan to apply for international grants? If so, you can apply for this planning grant to improve your project applications and opportunities for funding. The offer applies to international calls for proposals in any of the following areas; Sustainable industry, Sustainable societies, Sustainable precision health, Sustainable food systems and Sustainable mobility. 

You can submit you application any time during the four application periods, but the earlier the better, since the funding is limited.

The Nordic countries have teamed up with Canada and the USA to launch a NordForsk call on the sustainable development of the Arctic. The aim of the call is to support research collaboration among participating countries in the Arctic region to bring forward new knowledge on how to ensure the sustainable development of the Arctic.

The foundation provides grants of a maximum of SEK 150,000 to promote scientific research, mainly in humanities and social science research branches.

SSF Future Research Leaders

Deadline: 26 August

Every third year

Are you a young researcher aspiring to lead pioneering research in natural sciences, technology, or medicine? Seize the opportunity to join the SSF flagship programme, Future Research Leaders. 16 researchers will receive SEK 15 million each, alongside comprehensive leadership training over five years. To be eligible, you must have completed your doctoral degree between 2018 and 2020, and work full-time at a Swedish university or research institute during the grant period.

Swedish Energy Agency: Transition to a sustainable and bio-based society

Deadline: 10 September

Now you can receive grants to build new knowledge or develop new solutions that can accelerate the transition to a sustainable and bio-based society. This call from the Swedish Energy Agency covers SEK 70 million and aims to increase the understanding of the role of biomass, bioenergy and the bioeconomy in the energy and climate transition by focusing on system solutions, sustainable value chains and increased resource efficiency.

The Foundation Anna och Nils Håkansson Stiftelse

Deadline: 15 September

Yearly

The foundation "Anna och Nils Håkanssons Stiftelse" provides grants of between SEK 50,000 and SEK 200,000 to scientific education and research that promotes Sweden's forestry, and primarily forestry in the inland of Norrland.

Vinnova: Policy and Instruments for a Sustainable Transition

Vinnova grants a maximum of SEK 1,500,000 for research projects that provides a basis for, and directly contributes to, policy development that promotes climate-neutral and circular transition.
