Advanced Organic Chemistry 15 credits
About the course
The course gives extended knowledge in the field of organic chemistry. The course is lab oriented and the lab section intend to give the student an understanding of advanced synthetic methods, for instance the manipulation of highly reactive reagents in an inert atmosphere. The student will furthermore learn how to find relevant information in the primary literature in order to independently be able to plan and perform multistep synthesis. Modern spectroscopic methods are used to confirm the outcome of the synthetic sequences. Lectures complement the course literature in areas such as retrosynthesis, asymmetric synthesis and spectroscopic methods.
