The course aims to analyze and problematize how society should be organized and managed for sustainable development in the Arctic, and to deepen the knowledge in political science perspectives on environmental and natural resource management. Policies are analyzed at national, EU and global level focusing on implementing processes. The course provides skills and knowledge for work at various administrative levels in Sweden and internationally and prepares for further study at postgraduate level.

Type of studies
90 credits including an individual thesis in Political Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, or equivalent through another education and work experience in the field. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish Upper Secondary course English A/5. Where the language of instruction is Swedish, applicants must prove proficiency in Swedish to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.
Applicants in some programs at Umeå University have guaranteed admission to this course. The number of places for a single course may therefore be limited.
