About the course

The course Gender, Nation, and Migration, 7.5 credits, will explore a selection of theoretical works and case studies on the many ways in which the discourses and practices of nations and migrations are gendered. In line with a long tradition within gender studies the course will concentrate on geopolitical and national(ist) discourses on a) borders and citizenship and b) gender and sexuality. The themes will be explored through texts, lectures, seminars, group work, and individual written assignments.

The course is on-line and the course language is English.

To be admitted to the course applicants must have completed three semesters of full time studies, equivalent to 90 ECTS, of which at least 15 ECTS must be an independent project or four semesters of full time studies equivalent to 120 ECTS.
English proficiency equivalent to English A/6 from Swedish Upper secondary education.
