About the course

The purpose of this course is to apply economic theory and methods to independently solve a relevant economic problem. The emphasis is to develop the analytical ability of the student. This include how to formulate and solve a research problem. In addition, the aim of the course is to develop students' skills to critically examine and evaluate research reports. A substantial part of the course is to write a scientific paper. The essay should be such that the student shows that he/she possesses the skills listed above.

90 credits of which 75 credits in economics including 15 credits bachelor courses (G2F). Additionally, Mathematical Economics I D7 and Master Thesis in Economics I, or the equivalent. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
