See which facilities, tools, and recording equipment are available to borrow at Humlab.
As a student at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, you have the opportunity to make use of Humlab throughout your studies. We offer resources and study environments for a variety of purposes. Humlab also offers standalone courses at undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as support for doctoral students.
Humlab is a resource that can be helpful during your studies. Perhaps your regular programme does not provide certain tools or learning environments that you need, or perhaps Humlab is already integrated into the courses you are enrolled in. Humlab primarily supports students within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, as well as students whose studies have a clear connection to our focus areas.
Our focus areas include digital methods, digital practices, pedagogical development, and the arts.
We offer technical equipment and facilities that you can borrow in connection with your studies. This may include access to specialized equipment, our makerspace, or computer workstations for editing and recording podcasts, videos, and images.
We also provide software licenses and access to digital tools that can support your studies, for example in production, analysis, and visualization.

Students at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities may apply for access to our facilities. Students from other faculties may also be granted access if their studies have a clear connection to Humlab’s focus areas or are conducted in collaboration with Humlab. Access is granted on a semester-by-semester basis, and applications are submitted using your Umu card.
Humlab offers education at both the undergraduate and doctoral levels. In our courses, we integrate theoretical and methodological perspectives, with the aim of strengthening students’ knowledge of the digital humanities. Teaching is delivered through lectures, literature seminars, as well as practical workshops and hands-on applications.

Humlab hosts a programme of events that includes a variety of activities. Most of our public events do not require advance registration. Keep an eye on our calendar, where we publish information about seminars, lectures, and workshops.
As a student, regardless of faculty, you are warmly welcome to participate. You are also welcome to suggest events, equipment, or other resources that could support you in your studies.
Do you have ideas for guest speakers or topics for our lectures and workshops? You are also welcome to let us know about equipment that is missing or that you would like to have access to.
