Communicating your research online
The web is one of the most important channels for research communications. The University’s research is presented on umu.se in easy-to-understand language on the start page and on umu.se/en/research. These pages also highlight news, science outreach events and profiles of individual researchers.
If you have tips on current research news, please contact your nearest communications officer or faculty communications officer. You can also contact the editorial team that manages the start page of umu.se/en and umu.se/en/research by email at redaktion@umu.se.
Present your research on umu.se
The University's website is one of the most important channels for research communications. Find out more about how to work with different aspects of the web:

Expand your network by sharing information about you and your research.

Present your research project on umu.se
Present a research or doctoral project on a research project page.

Present your research group on umu.se
Presenting a research group on umu.se increases the visibility of the group.
Participate in events and visit groups
Giving talks is a more direct way to reach the public. One example is the science outreach lunches, another is more specific talks for selected groups outside the academic community. Read more about the University’s science outreach events.
Having contact with schools is a good way to share new knowledge with teachers and young people. The University organises continuing professional development for teachers, visits by researchers in schools and Researchers’ Friday. Contact your faculty communications officer for more information.
Contact the media
The media can be reached through press contacts, suggesting stories and press releases. Journalists also receive tips from the University through the Swedish Research Council’s press service for journalists, which is managed by the faculty communications officers and the press officer. Let your faculty communications officer and/or the press officer know when you have contact with journalists, so that we avoid reporting the same topic from multiple sources.
Write a news article about your doctoral thesis
One of the University’s most important missions is informing others about research results. New doctoral theses provide a good picture of our organisation and can be newsworthy for the media.
If you have written a doctoral thesis on a topic that you think is of interest to the public or if you want to find out more about publishing a news article, contact your faculty communications officer.
