Definition of a research group on umu.se
To be considered a research group, the following must be true:
- Members of the group conduct collaborative research by engaging in joint projects, co-publishing together and working on specific research problems that are closely related.
- There is a group leader who has a supervisory role of a more or less formalised nature. There may be exceptions to this.
- There is a mix of researchers, post docs and doctoral students.
- The majority of the group members are employed at or affiliated with Umeå University.
Where research group pages are visible
The research group page can be displayed on a department page, personal page or equivalent based on how the page is tagged, such as whether it is tagged with an organisation or person. It also appears in relevant listings on umu.se/en/research.
Publish a new research group page
To set up a new research group page, the person leading the research group, such as the head of research or group leader, can fill in the template below. Once filled in, it is submitted to a web editor at your department or unit.
The web editor publishes the group’s page. Once the page has been published, you can edit the text whenever you like. Find your nearest web editor on Aktum (UMU ID required).
Use the research group template as a basis for the page:
English version: Template for presentation of research group
Swedish version: Mall för presentation av forskargrupp
Required information about the group
- heading
- description
- name of the group leader, contact person or head of research (title is optional)
names of the group members (both university staff and external participants).
Be careful to keep the description of the research group relatively short and use subheadings to make it easier for readers.
Optional information on the group page
Web editors can add more content to the research group page. A banner image can be added to the page and images or videos can be added to the description.
You can add pointers to additional information at the bottom of the research group page – for example, selected stories, news articles, and internal or external organisations with which the group collaborates.
Editing a published research group page
Go to your research group page and then log in at the top via Login > Edit. Then click on the “Edit page” button in the centre of the page.
Publish in Swedish and English
Feel free to create an English translation of the research team page. However, please note that English text may not be available on the Swedish part of the University’s website for accessibility reasons and vice versa. Exceptions can be made for headings. Read more about digital accessibility on Aktum (UMU ID required).
If you only have English information about the project, the recommendation is to create a Swedish equivalent with a Swedish heading and the text: “Mer information om forskargruppen hittar du om du växlar till engelska genom English site i det övre högra hörnet på sidan.”
When not to use a research group page
If a research group only has one person, we recommend that the individual uses their personal page instead. Read more about personal pages.
Please note that a different page type is used for research projects and research infrastructures. This allows presenting the research content in a structured and useful way on umu.se/en/research.
