Professor emeritus of history
Jonas Liliequist is professor emeritus of history at the Department of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies. In 1992 he obtained a PhD in history with a thesis on Crime, Sin and Punishment: The Crime of Bestiality in Seventeenth- and Eighteenth-Centuries Sweden. Main areas of interests are history of violence, gender and masculinity, emotions, historical anthropology and new cultural history. Affiliated to the ARC Center of Excellence for the History of Emotions 1100-1800 at The University of Western Australia as Partner Investigator 2011-2018. He has been the organizer of three international conferences on the history of emotions: The Cultural History of Emotions in Premodernity, Umeå October 23-26, 2008, The Cultural History of Emotions II - Emotions East and West, Istanbul Sept 29–Oct 01, 2011, and Senses, Emotions and the Affective Turn – Recent Perspectives and New Challenges in Cultural History, Umeå June 26-29, 2017.
