Högre seminariet i filosofi bjuder in till ett seminarium med Hannah Altehenger. Seminariet ges på engelska och har den engelska titeln "How Automation Threatens Meaningful Work".
For many, work is an important source of meaning. Work is also a domain where automating technologies enter at great speed. In recent years, ethicists have begun to explore how these technologies impact meaningful work. In my talk, I will contribute to this emerging debate. My main claim is that automating technologies constitute a serious threat to one paradigmatic form of meaningful work. I will moreover show that the tension between automating technologies and this form of meaningful work runs deep: It is such that it cannot simply be resolved through regulation.
