NYHET Under onsdagen 10 januari hölls en heldag av studentpresentationer och diskussioner i MIT-place på Umeå universitet.
Dagen, som var ett samarbete med Plus Projektet, började med att deltagare kunde lyssna till presentationer av masterstudenter från kurserna ”Prototyping Interaction” och ”Managing as Designing”. Studenterna presenterade bland annat prototyper som de tillverkat och affischer som de jobbat med under kursernas gång. Efter lunch fortsatte dagen med att de idéer och koncept som presenterades under förmiddagen diskuterades.
Studenterna har arbetat i grupp, där uppgiften varit att designa en prototyp i förhållande till smarta bostäder och framtidens byggnader. Olika aspekter och egenskaper hos sådana futuristiska hus konceptualiserades genom prototyper som visade allt från belysning till redesign av väggar, tak och golv.
De prototyper som presenterades, byggdes med hjälp av digital tillverkningsteknik. I detta sammanhang presenterade studenterna i kursen ”Managing as Designing” idéer och tankar om digital tillverkning och tillsatsframställning med hjälp av affischer som deltagare kunde ta del av i MIT-place under hela dagen.

Master’s students showcase prototypes
On Wednesday 10th of January, the MIT focus area hosted one day event were students from two courses, “Prototyping Interaction” and “Managing as Designing” presented their prototypes and posters.
The day started with student presentations and in the afternoon, the concepts and the ideas presented in the morning were discussed in a plenary session.
In this showcase day that was conducted in collaboration with Plus Project, the students were asked to design a prototype in relation to smart housing and future buildings. Different aspects and characteristics of such futuristic houses were conceptualized in the prototypes from lighting to redesigning walls, ceilings and floors. The prototypes presented in this showcase day were built with the use of digital manufacture technologies. In this regard, the students of “Managing as Designing” course presented their ideas and thoughts on digital fabrication and additive manufacturing in form of a poster presentation that was illustrated during the day.
