About the course

The study of human language is part of modern cognitive science and the study of language is a study of the human mind. Language exists in the human mind and it has its neurological and biological base in the brain.
The course explores how language is organized and how language interacts with other parts of human cognition.

Outline for distance course

The course is based on online teaching. There will be 4-6 meetings (non-compulsory) that can be attended online, or on campus in Umeå as an ordinary classroom session. Access to a computer is required in order to be able to complete the coursework. Required Knowledge

90 ECTS in any Cognitive Science subject, for example Psychology , Computer Science, Linguistics, Neuroscience, Philosophy. At least 15 ECTS must be clearly connected to the field of cognition. Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary course English B/6.
