About the course

With over 150 million viewers worldwide, the Eurovision Song Contest is considered the biggest music competition in the world. Songs are performed in national languages, minority languages, made up languages or a mix of all. Questions of identity, politics, nationality, and gender are also constantly present. The course provides a linguistic perspective on the Eurovision Song Contest by introducing European language policy, discourse analysis, multilingualism, and metaphor.
