The Entrepreneurship Section

We conduct broad and multidisciplinary research and provide courses on a variety of entrepreneurship topics on all levels.

The Entrepreneurship is one of the disciplines at the Department of Business Administration and the USBE quality management system accredited by AACSB.

Entrepreneurship covers the processes of entrepreneurship and innovation from the point of view of individuals, firm, and the society. Our regionally, nationally and internationally active research group creates new knowledge in and about entrepreneurship and innovation develops new opportunities and novel solutions under uncertainty and rigorously considers the significance and manifestations of those in society.

The entrepreneurship section offers courses on all levels. The undergraduate courses include, but are not limited to Corporate Entrepreneurship, Social and Environmental Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship and Business Growth, Strategizing in Business Development, Innovation Management and New Venture Creation. The section is responsible for the master’s program in Business Development and Internationalization. Graduates from this program are equipped to pursue careers in managing business development, leading innovation and/or strategic change processes, within established organizations as well as start-ups. The international character of the program supports careers abroad. The program gives you eligibility to apply for PhD positions.

The research in the entrepreneurship section covers small business development, entrepreneurial growth, entrepreneurial leadership, innovation for social and ecological sustainability, collaboration and competition dynamics as well as the dynamics of various types of inter-organizational networks (SAs, industry clusters and ecosystems). Our expertise reaches to digital phenomena in entrepreneurship and considers rural/spatial, gender and migration perspectives seriously. Our faculty engage with various qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

Researchers in the Entrepreneurship section are active within the Project, Innovation and Network (PIN) and the Robust research environments of the Department of Business Administration.

The entrepreneurship section at USBE offers a good environment for PhD students to develop within. Competencies are continually developed through new research, both in collaboration with local and international industry and with support from funding agencies. The section also has a regular internal seminar series aimed at promoting good research, where both PhD students and senior faculty are encouraged to share research ideas and can expect constructive feedback from peers.

The section collaborates on several courses and research projects with external parties at regional, national, and international levels. The section welcomes collaborations in both research and teaching.
