You need to be registered for the course in the study documentation system to be able to follow the course and to get your results recorded during the course. Online registration is open between January 10, 2022 and January 17, 2022. If you do not register by January, 17 at the latest, you risk losing your place.
To be able to sign in at the student website and register online, you need to have activated your Umu-id account.
I intend to honor the schedule that is available on Time Edit. However, under the current Corona restrictions, we might have to meet on-line via zoom instead of in the classroom. PLEASE, for further information and updates and Zoom link, see the Canvas page that you will get access to once registration begins.
Also note that during the first week, in addition to two lecture/discussions (Monday & Wednesday), the schedule says “Handledning” Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. At these times, I want to meet each one of you individually. You only have to sign up for and schedule one short session during one of these days. I want to know about your background, you previous studies and your research interest. I will provide a signs-up sheet or some other instruction for this procedure when we meet for the first time, Monday January 18 at 13:15.

P.S. Yes, the schedule says that we start at 13 but there is a long departmental tradition of interpreting that as starting 13:15! (known at the “academic quarter”)
The course analyses the debate about EU's future development, as well as questions about the impact of EU membership on Swedish democracy and constitutional practice, e.g., regarding the parliament (the Riksdag) and the political parties. It provides an opportunity to do research on Swedish democracy within the European Union. In as far as possible, the course is given in collaboration with stakeholders and partners in the workplace.
The course consists of lectures and seminars, at least one which is compulsory and graded Pass/Fail. The course also has an element of guest lectures from practitioners. It also provides in-depth training in independent academic research and introduces scenario analysis. If resources are available, there can also be study visits in the field, e.g., to conferences and workshops.
For this course we use the learning platform Canvas. There you will find all you need, for example the schedule, instructions for seminars, a list of course participants, and notices from the teacher. This is also where you hand in your own work.
To be able to log into Canvas you need an activated user account (Umu-id).
Umu-id är ditt användarkonto. Det behöver du för att kunna registrera dig på utbildningen. När du är ny student får du automatiskt ett Umu-id, men du måste själv aktivera det för att det ska fungera.
Umu-id kommer du behöva när du ska: • registrera dig på kurser • lämna in tentor, uppgifter eller se dina resultat • kolla din studentmejl • skaffa Umu-kort • använda datorer i datorsalar och universitetets wifi.
För att få tillgång till ditt Umu-id behöver du gå igenom vår aktiveringsguide. Detta kan du göra en vecka innan terminsstart, men ofta går det att göra tidigare än så. Du får inget särskilt meddelande från oss när det är möjligt att aktivera ditt användarkonto.
När du är på något av våra campus kommer du behöva ett Umu-kort. Umu-kortet är personligt och fungerar som passerkort, kopieringskort och lånekort. Allt i ett. För att få tillgång till kortet måste du själv ansöka om det.
Sök det pedagogiska stöd du har rätt till på direkten. Då är det fixat när terminen börjar och du bara vill komma i gång med utbildningen.
Du kan få stöd om du till exempel har dyslexi, adhd eller nedsatt syn. Beroende på dina behov finns olika typer av stöd. Vanligt är att en får anteckningsstöd, längre skrivtid eller anpassning av sitt kursmaterial. Målet är helt enkelt att göra det lättare för dig att plugga på lika villkor.
Infocenter, möjligen de bästa vi har. De hjälper dig genom de första veckorna som ny student. Kanske behöver du hjälp med ditt Umu-id, att hitta rätt i lokalerna eller snabbt stämma av med en studievägledare? Och skulle de inte ha ett svar direkt, så vet de var och hur de vägleder dig vidare.
Infocenter håller till i Universum, huset mitt på Campus Umeå. Det är bara att du hör av dig om något krånglar.
