Can family be defined by sickness rather than blood?
Through oil painting, Åhlund revisits the abstraction of organs to embody bonds beyond the usual outer appearance. Where the symbiotic system of microbiomes within the body becomes analogous to interpersonal relations, in an act of painting that challenges our preconceived notions of family .
