Have you been admitted to a course or programme, but do not wish to keep your place? Then you should decline your offer by logging in to your account at Universityadmissions.se. In doing so, you free up your place to someone who is on the waiting list.
This course uses online course registration. You register by entering the Student Web (see instructions below). IMPORTANT! Registration must be made within the period 11 January to 19 January 2021.
It is very important that you register during these dates. If not, you may loose your seat on the course. After the registration window is closed, vacant seats will be offered to students on our waiting list.
This course is an Online course. You will conduct studies both by yourself and as part of a group. You will with assistance of the course coordinator, literature, lectures and seminars, complete your assignments. Much within the course is created around the participants' activities where all students' previous experiences and questions are equally important.
All our courses have an online course platform and it provides you with course information, additional literature and support in terms of resources, such as pre-recorded online lectures and discussion boards. Communication between students and teachers will take place mainly through the through the online learning platform.
Thank you for choosing Umeå University! We really look forward to seeing you. Until October, most of the teaching at the university will take place online. But the library group study rooms and study spaces are open from the start of the semester. Please remember to keep your distance when using these spaces.
The exact plan for the rest of the autumn semester has not yet been decided. At some point this autumn, we will likely all be able to meet on campus again, but the way back needs to be gradual. The university is planning on reaching a new decision about the autumn semester in mid-August. Unfortunately, we can’t give you any clear information about how your specific education will be affected quite yet. But stay updated through the Student web.
Follow this simple list of things to complete your enrolment at Umeå University. It includes: how to secure housing, getting a residence permit (for citizens from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland), tuition payment (if applicable), travel directions and more.
International students are recommended to arrive at least a few days before the start of the regular term, preferably prior to the Orientation. If you fail to arrive on time, you have to contact the study counselor as soon as possible, but not later than one week ahead of the course start, or you may not be able to register for the programme.
If you will have housing through the International Housing Office you will receive information about your arrival in your offer of housing.
Don't forget - Umeå has cold winters, so pack accordingly with a warm jacket, warm shoes, gloves and hat.
Moving to a new country with an unfamiliar language, culture and customs can be a challenge. We would like to help you and ease that challenge so that you can focus on your studies. Therefore, we would like to offer you the possibility to take part in our Orientation, which begins a few days before the start of the term (Autumn) or the same day as the term starts (Spring).
As a new student, you need to activate your user account approximately two weeks prior to the term start in order to, for instance:
access the internet in computer labs and the university's wireless network
register for courses
submit assignments and verify your study results
access your student e-mail
If you are a new student, you will automatically receive a user account when you are admitted, but you will need to activate it for it to function properly. You will not be able to activate it until approximately two weeks prior to the term start.
The website for current students has all sorts of information about services, support, legal and practical matters at Umeå University. You can sign in to the learning platforms, see your schedule and course overview, register for a course, get a study certificate, apply for a degree or sign up for an examination.
