Master's Programme in Constitutional Law and Human Rights
First of all, a very warm welcome to the master’s programme and Umeå University. The master’s programme is a one-year programme allowing you delve deep into both central concepts of constitutional law and human rights and current issues shaping the law in these areas. We are looking forward to seeing you and hope you will enjoy your time here.
Have you been admitted to a course or programme, but do not wish to keep your place? Then you should decline your offer by logging in to your account at Universityadmissions.se. In doing so, you free up your place to someone who is on the waiting list.
As you will have seen the programme consists of four individual courses, each with a specific focus. For course specific questions you can either contact the head of the course in question or our administrator email@example.com.
The first course of the programme, Rule of Law, Constitutionalism and Fundamental Principles starts on Monday, August 30th 13.15 on zoom. You will find the time and place for the course introduction in the schedule. The introduction and registration to this course will also be the introduction and registration of the programme as such. It is important that you attend the registration in order to keep your place on the programme. Please contact our administrator firstname.lastname@example.org if you are unable to attend.
Please note that since the program runs for one academic year - your resident permit will very likely not last for a full calendar year. This means that you will not be eligible for a Swedish personal number and thus not covered by free health care on the same conditions as Swedish citizens. Please ensure that you are covered by a comprehensive health insurance of your choosing beyond the personal accidental injury insurance Umeå university issues to all international students.
From 2 November, most of the previous COVID measures are lifted – welcome back to campus! However, things will not go back to normal straight away. For instance, some parts of your education may still take place online.
Since the return to campus is planned by those responsible for your education, you will receive more detailed information regarding your studies from your department.
Follow this simple list of things to complete your enrolment at Umeå University. It includes: how to secure housing, getting a residence permit (for citizens from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland), tuition payment (if applicable), travel directions and more.
International students are recommended to arrive at least a few days before the start of the regular term, preferably prior to the Orientation. If you fail to arrive on time, you have to contact the study counselor as soon as possible, but not later than one week ahead of the course start, or you may not be able to register for the programme.
If you will have housing through the International Housing Office you will receive information about your arrival in your offer of housing.
Don't forget - Umeå has cold winters, so pack accordingly with a warm jacket, warm shoes, gloves and hat.

Therefore, we would like to offer you the possibility to take part in our Orientation, which begins a few days before the start of the term (Autumn) or the same day as the term starts (Spring).
